My first experiments with ISO 3200 film at one of my favourite live music venues in Camden town, London. April 2007.

The Dublin Castle is a small live music venue in Camden Town London. I first heard about it when I went to see a band called "Youth of Britain" whom I saw support the Prodigy, at Brixton Academy in December 2004.

Dublin Castle, is one of several live music venue's in London, where bands trying to break into the music scene, and get experience and make it I guess, can play. I've been several times, including one of my birthdays, and I really like going to see something different, and sometimes you see a real gem of a band. I was bored one Saturday night and keen to try out some high speed film suitable for low light situations, plus see some live music.

I had also just purchased an external flash gun unit, the canon 580EX, and I was keen to see the effect that I could get using it. The built in flash on my camera is totally useless, as the lens hood shields half the exposure, and gives and annoying effect. I saw the results that a guy called Nic in my photoclub got at a wedding he shot, and that convinced me to buy one, £320 later on Tottenham Court road, and I was ready to go.

I saw three bands that evening, Little Fish, Geisha (whom I've seen before and really like, and play in my student town of Brighton often) and a third but I don't know what they're called, but were from Ireland and pretty good. I started off without using the flash during songs, and then used it when they were playing, as there were no complaints. My favourite part of the evening, was when the lead of Geisha band's girlfriend got on stage and sang, she has an amazing voice.
