My shipmates and I aboard the RV Akademik Ioffe go camping in the Antarctic. February 2007.

Below is a short video that I made whilst in the Antarctic aboard the RV Akademik Ioffe on a marathon trip to Antarctica in February 2007. The 100 other runners I met aboard turned out to be some of the finest people I have ever met, and I was privileged to spend time with them in such a unique environment. I have lots of photo's still to edit and pages to post, but I wanted to get this onto the web first.

I borrowed a small digital canon camcorder from my uncle that recorded straight to flash memory on my trip. At the time I wasn't too keen on using it, and am a bit of a photography snob. Having returned from my trip, I'm very pleased to have around 50 minutes of really fun footage.

The Video:
I have made an 8minute 30 second video, of the overnight camping trip towards the end of our stay. The temperature probably reached -10 Celsius, which really isn't cold for the Antarctic. The video comes in two formats to make it easy for different software setups to view it:
