I was asked live and work in the city of Frankfurt am Main, in South West Germany for 6 weeks in the summer of 2007. Frankfurt is sometimes nicknamed "Bankfurt" due to it's abundance of financial institutions residing there (one of which I was working for); including the European Central Bank, which controls the "euro" currency. It was my second time living in a German speaking city, a year earlier I spent time in Zurich, Switzerland. I lived about two miles outside the city centre in Bornheim, a nice low rise residential area, with a street cafe culture and very friendly people.

Whilst I spent quite a bit of time in the city, I didn't manage to do as much photography as I'd have liked, and only shot 2 rolls of Fuji Velvia film, and a handful of digital shots in my whole time there. In between working some weekends, and flying back to England for a family party and a gig, along with a couple of staggering hangovers, from experiencing some of the notorious local nightclubs clubs including Cocoon. I also used my time there to start running again, and trained along the river on a regular basis sometimes with a mate from work. Frankfurt is a buzzing city, with an plethora of decent museums, vibrant riverfront, and good atmosphere and nightlife. Arriving in the concrete city centre of Konstablerwache, might be a bit off putting to a tourist just arriving from a more picturesque european city; however Frankfurt has a lot to offer, and I had a great time during my stay, and had the pleasure of working with some superb people.
