Locarno & Lavertezzo Switzerland.
Photographs from my weekend trip to the southern Swiss canton of Ticino.

Lavertezzo.

With just under a month left in Switzerland, I had yet to visit the canton of Ticino, the largest Italian language speaking region (see link) of the confederation. I set off from Zuerich HB train station after work, on the Friday early evening train, for three hour plus train journey. I stayed in the city's YHA, forcing myself to stay in a shared room for the experience factor as I had when I visited Zermatt. It worked alright except when I had to tell two drunk guys to keep it down at about 3am. Besides that incident it was a pleasant stay and very cheap being off season at about 50Chf per night including breakfast and supper; that's under £25. After arriving on the Friday night, I went out for a quick beer and found a bar that was blaring out Rage Against the Machine, one of my favourite bands; I went straight in.

I explored the city the following day, and walked through a lovely little market at the town centre en route to the tourist office. The tourist office recommended... more soon, It's tired and I'm going to bed. (26th November 2006)
