Photography of my day trip to the beautiful city of Luzern, Switzerland, July 2006.

Heavily armed with my camera, two lenses and a dodgy haircut, I set off from Zuerich HB train station on the 9:03 Sunday morning train, destination the city of Luzern (or Lucerne in English). The Journey took just under an hour and cost me a meagre 22Chf with my 50% off rail card for tourists. I had heard that it was a nice town, and had seen a picture of a covered bridge which my friend, whom I met over here, Katrin Belger took there. I thought that the town looked and sounded like an interesting visit.

Lucerne has a huge amount of history, which I only had time to skim over whilst on the train, but I suppose the key three attractions, are the two old covered bridges one of which dates back to before America was even discovered (and is still standing); the lion monument, which is dedicated to fallen Swiss mercenaries, who were protecting the French nobility following the revolution in the 18th Century. I took a photo (click here) of the explanation, rather than rehash it myself. The town also houses a couple of Picasso museum's, an ancient city wall and a lot of other good sights.

I patrolled around the town on my own trying to take different shots, and switching between my 50mm lens and my 17-85mm lens with polariser attached. The 17-85 worked out far more useful on this occasion. I had lunch of at the riverside KKL cafe, with a stunning view of Lake Lucerne. I spent about 6 hours in total in the town wondering around and thoroughly enjoyed myself in yet another charming Swiss town.
