6 of us run my favorite 10km, cross country race. September 2007.

The Alice Holt 10km race is probably my favorite short race of the year. It's an undulating course and the gravel track certainly slows you down. After a chaotic weekend, of working and staying out late to see 'The Police' in concert, at Twickenham stadium; I woke up at 6:15am and made a mad dash down to the race, picking up my mothers car, and my cousin Fergus en route. Fergus despite a heavy night of partying came along and took photo's of the race with his canon 400D and my shiny new 70-200 f2.8 lens.

My sister was also supposed to be running the race, but ended up being abroad for the weekend, and my mate from university Jez Coles got hurt in training. Zoe Tame was heading back to Cornwall so which of my friends were actually going to race, wasn't decided until the day.

Matt Zawelski and Meg McLellan who I know through my mate Phil Power turned up though, despite Meg having a chest infection and Matt not having trained for some time, they also bought along a friend of theirs.

Mon Rice and Phil turned up to the race just in time for the start, and were looking for somewhere to dump their car keys and jumpers when the race horn went off, and you can see Mon in the red shift to the right catching up the last runner.

Matt had an awesome race and finished in around 39 minutes. Despite having to chase us, Phil finished only 30 seconds behind me, in about 43 minutes.

I don't have the full race times yet, but I don't think it matters too much; I dropped about 1 minute from my personal best time of last years race, but I'm really not bothered. I had a great day out with my friends, and pushed myself harder than I would in training and really enjoyed myself. Thanks to Fergus for taking these, and we wished some of our absent friends could have been there.
